Goal: To reduce the size of male breasts due to enlarged glandular or fat tissue caused by obesity.
Operative technique: The gland is removed through the small periareolar incision. In fatty breasts liposuction is also performed, with or without gland removal.
Duration and anesthesia: The procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia, and usually lasts about one hour.
Recovery: Drains are removed after 24 hours, and the stitches in two weeks. Compressive elastic bandage is worn few days after the procedure.
Rare complications: Edema, bruises or prolonged seroma formation |
